NTUH Children's Hospital is located at the intersection of Qingdao West Road and Zhongshan South Road in Taipei City. The entire building has 22 floors and 4 underground floors. Construction began in 2003 and officially began operations in 2008.
The hospital is designed with the concept of "Healthy Forest" in the hope that children will feel warmth and fun when receiving medical treatment. The colorful castle next to the gate is the landmark of the hospital. The bright colors make the children feel welcome and friendly. There is also a "Rolling Ball Park" in the hall, designed by an American artist. It uses mechanical principles to let stress balls roll along the track, and is paired with Taiwan's unique animal patterns to help children relax.
There are also many spaces designed specifically for children in the hospital, such as the " NTUH Raising Children's World ", which combines play, learning and exploration. There are four major areas: "Wonderful Forest", "Animal Carnival", "Fantasy Journey" and "Buddy Life Memorial", making the hospital more childlike. The Hsin Yi Foundation also set up a family resource center on the first floor, providing parent-child books and creating a comfortable reading space with the theme of the ocean world.
In addition, the hospital also has a dental service center for people with special needs, which provides dental equipment designed specifically for wheelchair patients to make treatment more convenient. For hospitalized children, there are four playrooms on the 12th and 13th floors,so that children can have space to play even in the hospital.
